New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady said Monday he doesn’t agree with President Trump’s idea of firing people from the NFL if they don’t stand for the national anthem.
“I certainly disagree with what he said, I thought it was divisive,” Brady told Boston’s WEEI hosts Kirk and Callahan on Monday morning.

Trump has described Brady as a “friend.”
Trump said at a rally for Senate candidate Luther Strange in Alabama that he would love to see the owners of NFL teams fire any player who disrespects the American flag.
“Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘Get that son of a bitch off the field right now. He is fired. He’s fired!'” Trump said.
Trump tweeted about the issue throughout the weekend, prompting dozens of NFL players to either kneel or lock arms during the national anthem this weekend.
Trump also lashed out at basketball star Stephen Curry, of the Golden State Warriors, for not wanting to attend a ceremony at the White House honoring the team’s NBA championship. Trump withdrew his invitation to Curry via a tweet on Saturday.
