DNC seeking a chief tech officer

The Democratic National Committee is hiring a chief technology officer who will be responsible for “ensuring party information remains secure.”

“This senior technical executive position will set the vision for the Democratic Party’s technology tools, data, and analytics infrastructure, structure technical collaboration architecture, modernize the DNC’s technology infrastructure, products, services, and developer programs, and work with diverse stakeholders to create and support a national ecosystem for innovation and engagement within the Party,” the job listing states.

The chief technology officer, joining the management team, will oversee numerous information security staff, including the chief information security officer, data director and software engineering director.

The listing comes about 10 months after WikiLeaks published stolen emails from DNC staffers during the 2016 presidential campaign. The thousands of documents indicated former Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz and DNC officers worked to undermine primary candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders in favor of Hillary Clinton.

DNC Chairman Tom Perez, who was elected in February, called for this type of job position to be created while campaigning in January.
