President Trump is receiving backlash after poking fun at himself during a White House visit with the newly crowned Louisiana State University football team.
“So coach, if you’d like, we can take whoever wants to come to the Oval Office, we’ll take pictures behind the Resolute Desk,” Trump said Friday. “It’s been there a long time. Lot of presidents. Some good, some not so good.”
“But you got a good one now,” he continued. “Even though they’re trying to impeach the son of a bitch. Can you believe that?”

The student-athletes and coaches in the room laughed at Trump’s lighthearted comment. However, many people on Twitter didn’t respond positively to the joke.
Oliver Willis of the American Independent took the opportunity to correct the president. “Trump complains to the coach of the LSU Tigers that ‘they’re trying to impeach the son of bitch.’ Trump has in fact *already* been impeached. He now faces a Senate impeachment trial and possible removal from office.”

GQ writer Luke Zaleski responded to the video on Twitter by saying, “THEY DID IMPEACH THE SON OF A BITCH.”

CNN commentator Keith Boykin responded to the joke by complaining about the way President Barack Obama was treated during his time in office. “Trump to LSU football team: “They’re trying to impeach the son of a bitch. Can you believe that?” This is the man Trump-supporting white evangelicals claim was chosen by God. Yet President Obama demeaned the office by wearing a tan suit,” he posted on Twitter.

The House sent the articles of impeachment against President Trump to the Senate earlier this week, and the Senate trial is likely to begin next week.
