Former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer engaged

Eliot Spitzer, who resigned as New York governor more than a decade ago following a sex scandal, is engaged to Roxana Girand, his girlfriend of two years.

Spitzer, 60, and Girand, the 48-year-old founder and president of Sebastian Capital, plan to buy two apartments in an Upper East Side building as they prepare for their nuptials, Spitzer’s spokeswoman Lisa Linden told the New York Post.

The former governor divorced his first wife, Silda Wall Spitzer, in 2013, years after he was implicated in a prostitution ring that forced him to resign as governor in 2008. The two have three daughters: Elyssa, Sarabeth, and Jenna.

The couple ended their marriage after 26 years when it was revealed that Spitzer was having an affair with Democratic political consultant Lis Smith, who is 23 years his junior. Smith, who resigned as then-Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio’s spokeswoman when the affair surfaced, and Spitzer broke up in 2015 after two years of dating. Smith now is a senior adviser to Pete Buttigieg’s presidential campaign.

Girand is also divorced and has two children.

“[Spitzer and Girand] both love real estate, and they both love New York,” a source said at the beginning of their relationship.
