Bleeding blue: Kaine predicts Democratic Senate

Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Kaine thinks the Senate will bleed blue this November.

“I think it’s actually maybe going to be easier than it’s been in the past, a little bit. I do think we’re going to take a Senate majority for the Democrats,” Kaine told CBS “60 Minutes” co-host Scott Pelley during a joint interview with Hillary Clinton.

The Virginia senator predicted the House of Representatives stays in Republicans’ hands, but expects the margin of GOP majority to narrow. Clinton was more hopeful about the House.

“I also am hoping we will have a Democratic Senate, and we will make gains in the House. Who knows? Maybe we can take the House back,” Clinton said.

Kaine said regardless of Democrats’ ability to secure either chamber, he believes House Speaker Paul Ryan to be quite compromising. A Vice President Kaine hopes to work on immigration reform, tax reform, mental health reform and criminal justice reform during his hypothetical time as vice president in the White House.
