A construction worker was struck by an asphalt roller and died in Fairfax County Saturday afternoon.
Edgar Tobar, 40, of Woodbridge, was standing near a roadway at a construction site around 12:30 p.m. in the 7300 block of Statecrest Drive when a co-worker lost control of the asphalt roller he was driving and ran over Tobar. Emergency workers transported him to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Detectives determined no criminal charges will be placed. The investigation has been turned over to the Occupational Health and Safety Administration, Fairfax County police said.
