Federal Reserve Chairwoman Janet Yellen may have something to worry about should Donald Trump become president.
“I think she’s done a serviceable job,” Trump told Fortune in an interview published Tuesday night — right before the Republican front-runner won the New York primary. “I don’t want to comment on reappointment, but I would be more inclined to put other people in.”
Though Trump said he likes Yellen’s low interest rates, that doesn’t translate to liking her.
“There are lots of good things that could be done that aren’t being done, amazingly,” Trump added, although he didn’t list any specifics.
“People think the Fed should be raising interest rates,” Trump added. “If rates are 3 percent or 4 percent or whatever, you start adding that kind of number to an already reasonably crippled economy in terms of what we produce, that number is a very scary number.”
A full transcript of the wide-ranging interview with Fortune is set to be published later this week.
