The U.S. has asked for a United Nations Security Council vote Tuesday afternoon on a resolution for a new inquiry into chemical weapons in Syria, according to a report.
The U.S. has requested the vote for 3 p.m. Tuesday, Reuters reported, and comes after reports of a deadly chemical weapons attack in the rebel-held city of Douma in Eastern Ghouta, Syria.
Diplomats told Reuters that Russia, a Syrian ally, will likely veto the resolution. In order for the proposal to pass, it needs nine favorable votes and cannot be vetoed by Russia, China, France, Britain, or the U.S.
