After the successful effort last year by Senate Republicans to deny Merrick Garland, Obama’s nominee for the Supreme Court, a confirmation vote, Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer told Americans “…we’re not playing tit for tat here. We want a mainstream nominee because that’s the right thing for America.”



Indeed, after Tuesday night’s nomination of Neil Gorsuch, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow weighed in: Gorsuch is a “relatively mainstream choice.”
