President Joe Biden’s Inaugural Committee is marking his first year in office with a new video narrated by Tom Hanks.
The committee used excess funds from the inauguration to produce the video that will air on broadcast and cable TV networks on Thursday, according to Axios.
“If only we’re brave enough. Brave enough to live through two of the most difficult years many of us can remember. Brave enough to pull ourselves up again and again,” Hanks said. “America is the home of the brave.”
ONE YEAR IN, BIDEN’S PRESIDENCY IS ON LIFE SUPPORT
On the eve of his first anniversary in office, the latest poll from Morning Consult shows just 40% of respondents approve of Biden’s job as president, and 56% disapprove — his worst ratings yet. Compared to his first few days in office, his numbers were essentially reversed, with 56% approving of his job performance and 32% disapproving.
The two-minute video, posted on YouTube, features cameos of Sandra Lindsay, the first person to get vaccinated in the United States; a UPS driver; a transportation industry representative; and Hanks. It ends with a short statement from Biden.
“It’s never been a good idea to bet against America. And, there’s nothing we can’t do if we do it together. We are stronger today than we were a year ago,” Biden said in the video.
The video also highlighted aspects of Inauguration Day, including Hanks, who hosted a prime-time special on Biden’s first day in office, and a portion of the poem Amanda Gorman recited.
“America is the home of the brave. It’s why we keep getting up no matter how many times we get knocked down. Like with our economy, it’s not all the way back, but it’s getting stronger,” Hanks said in the video.

Inaugural committees are not limited in how they can use leftover money, with previous committees using the funds to donate to the White House Historical Association, renovations for the presidential residence, and more.
