A massive gas line explosion in Kentucky killed one and injured three, with the blast being so large it appeared on radar.
At about 1:40 a.m. Thursday morning, the line ruptured in central Kentucky about 150 feet from a mobile home park. In addition to the casualties, six of the mobile homes caught fire, according to Lincoln County Emergency Management Director Don Gilliam.
Gilliam said that when he arrived at the scene, fire was shooting 300 feet into the air. Despite the fire now being out, Gilliam said that authorities “still have an active scene.”
One resident in the area said the explosion felt like an atomic bomb went off. Radar, designed to monitor the weather, picked up the moment the gas line erupted.

According to Gilliam, about 75 people were evacuated from the mobile home park as a precaution.
“It was impressive, it’s tragic, we hope it doesn’t get worse,” he said.
