There is little Atlas hasn’t tried in its countless RPGs.
The latest installment of the “Summon Night” series trys a new style of gameplay than previous installments, but leaves players with a familiar dungeon crawler that resembles “Secret of Mana.”
The game has a crafting system and monster summoning, but all the materials come at random times from random things, so it feels like a wasted effort.
Attacks are performed with stylus swipes, but must be chosen from a side menu, which makes instant action difficult for a real-time game.
Overall, it’s a solid title for the DS, but it lacks innovation or spirit and feels like every other generic Japanese RPG.
