The personal driver President Trump used before he became president is suing the Trump Organization for hundreds of thousands of dollars in overtime, and says he only saw two pay raises in 15 years.
Noel Cintron, who has worked for the Trump Organization for more than 20 years, is suing the company and Trump Tower Commercial LLC for about 3,300 hours of overtime accrued in the six past years, according to the New York Daily News and Bloomberg. Clintron, who is demanding $350,000 in back wages, interest and legal fees, is ineligible to claim money for working on average between 50 to 55 hours a week prior to six years ago because of the statute of limitations.
Cintron’s lawsuit, filed before the Manhattan Supreme Court, also states his pay of $62,700 in 2003 was increased to $68,000 in 2006 and $75,000 in 2010. However, the last bump was given after he was “induced to surrender” health benefits.
“In an utterly callous display of unwarranted privilege and entitlement and without even a minimal sense of noblesse oblige President Donald Trump has, through the defendant entities, exploited and denied significant wages to his own longstanding personal driver,” the suit said, according to the Daily News.
“President Trump’s further callousness and cupidity is further demonstrated by the fact that while he is purportedly a billionaire, he has not given his personal driver a meaningful raise in over 12 years!” it said.
A spokesperson for the Trump Organization told the Washington Examiner Cintron “was at all times paid generously and in accordance with the law.”
“Once the facts come out we expect to be fully vindicated in court,” they said.
Cintron, a registered Republican, took a new security role within the company since the U.S. Secret Service assumed his driving responsibilities.
