In an interview with the New York Film Academy, Marvel Studio boss Kevin Feige said that the comic book movie house would be adding a number of diverse characters in upcoming films.

Responding to a question specifically about transgender representation in the Marvel universe, Feige assured the audience that the first transgender character would appear shortly in a new film.

“Yes, absolutely. Yes,” Feige, 46, said. “And very soon. In a movie that we’re shooting right now.”

Marvel has previously confirmed that its new production of The Eternals would feature gay and deaf superheroes.
