Trump Campaign Touts Op-Ed Saying His Path to Victory ‘Looks More than Problematic’

In a rather unorthodox move, the Donald Trump campaign sent a press release Tuesday afternoon with an acknowledgement that Trump was unlikely to win the election.

The press release headlined “ICYMI: The Donald Lives!” borrowed copy from a post published at former presidential candidate Pat Buchanan’s website, and it tried to make the case that Trump had “turned in perhaps the most effective performance in the history of presidential debates on Sunday night.” However, the press release concludes:

Upshot: The Donald is alive. While his path to 270 electoral votes still looks more than problematic, there is a month to go before the election, and anything can happen. Indeed, it already has — many times.

While the honesty of sharing those words is admirable, premising the success of Trump’s campaign on the possibility that “anything might happen” does not come across as a sign of confidence.
