Washington Gov. Jay Inslee, a 2020 Democratic presidential candidate, shared 12 years of his tax returns Friday.
Inslee urged President Trump to also release his own tax returns, during an appearance on “Fox & Friends” Friday morning.
“I am challenging Donald Trump on his favorite show to release his tax returns like I did this morning,” he said. “It is time for him to come clean with the American people. He’s gotta show what he’s been hiding, and Americans deserve that truth.”
Trump has thus far declined to release such disclosures, claiming he has been under audit by the Internal Revenue Service.
Inslee posted his returns from 2007 to 2018 on his campaign website. He is the second Democratic presidential candidate to release his 2018 tax returns after Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., shared hers earlier this week.
His return shows he and his wife had $202,912 in total income last year, a majority of that coming from his salary as governor. He received the rest from his federal pension from when he served in Congress from 1993-1995 and 1999 to 2012. He paid $29,906 in taxes.
Inslee announced he was running for president earlier this month and would focus his campaign on fighting climate change.
