Bob Shrum, the Democratic campaign strategist, is known for two things mainly–his long losing streak in presidential races, including such highlights as McGovern ’72, Kennedy ’80, and Kerry ’04–and the trademark themes of almost every one of these races, “I’ll fight for you” and “I’m on your side.” We heard a lot of that from McCain tonight. It would be hilariously ironic if the presidential election Shrum finally “wins” is McCain over Obama.
