Dos and don’ts for pandemic hysterics as normalcy returns

For more than a year now, we’ve witnessed some truly shocking behavior from nerve-racked liberals who believed they actually had the power to stop the spread of a highly contagious airborne virus. You could understand and even tolerate their compulsion because people were rightfully afraid, given how little we knew about COVID-19 and that thousands of people really were dying.

But now that vaccines are widely available, with near 100% efficacy at preventing severe illness, life is returning to normal (sorry, Dr. Anthony Fauci), and we should expect the way we treat each other to come with it. There are, however, some pandemic hysterics who would rather not.

Too bad. Deference for the most fearful person in the room has run its course, and it’s over. They may need help adjusting, though, so here is an easy do-and-don’t guide for the pandemic hysteric:

Do feel free to continue “social distancing” by staying home away from crowds and declining to participate in anything that might be considered fun. That’s your right.

Don’t feel entitled to insult people who choose to enjoy being around large groups of other people, such as in clubs or bars or other entertainment venues. Whatever risk they’re taking, it’s theirs to take and none of your business.

Do wear a mask, as many as you like, and in any place you want if it makes you feel safe.

Don’t verbally or physically harass those who choose not to do the same. It sadly became common in 2020 for perfect strangers to hector anyone they saw without a mask, regardless of whether it was even appropriate to be wearing one (outside, when you’re vaccinated, etc.). Such moments were often caught on video and published to social media, where other pandemic hysterics would swarm to further shame the maskless. Bullying is never acceptable.

Do enjoy the peace of mind that some people get from getting vaccinated.

Don’t ask strangers whether they’ve been vaccinated themselves. It’s rude, and an individual’s medical history is, once again, never any of your business.

Following these simple rules should allow for the pandemic hysteric to move seamlessly to normalcy. Thank you in advance.
