There are many activities at the Metropolitan Cooking and Entertaining Show on Saturday and Sunday at the Washington Convention Center, from celebrity and local chef demonstrations to food and wine seminars.
Here’s a quick rundown.
The main event
The Metropolitan Cooking and Entertaining Show from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center (801 Mount Vernon Place NW). General admission tickets are $20 and will give you access to more than 200 exhibitors, the Bloom Cooking Stage and the Beef Checkoff Tasting and Entertaining workshops. The Celebrity Theater
This is where you’ll find all of your favorite Food Network stars.
Saturday
* 10 to 11 a.m.: Giada De Laurentiis
* 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.: Guy Fieri
* 3:15 to 4:15 p.m.: Paula Deen
Sunday
* 11 a.m. to noon: Tyler Florence
* 12:45 to 1:25 p.m.: Pat and Gina Neely
* 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.: Paula Deen
Tickets for each of these events are $45 to $75 in advance and $50 to $80 at the door, and include general admission.
The Bloom Cooking Stage
This area will be active all Saturday and Sunday featuring demonstrations from local chefs. Check the Web site for details.
Tastings and workshops
Beef Checkoff Tasting & Entertaining workshops will be staged all day Saturday and Sunday.
Beer, wine and spirits tastings and workshops are from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 on Sunday.
There are wine tasting seminars on Saturday and Sunday and from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Todd Thrasher hosts a cocktails seminar ($65).
Tyler Florence will host his Ultimate Food and Wine Pairing on Sunday ($140 in advance, $160 at the door). Chef Terri Cutrino and sommelier Jill Zimorski of Cafe Atlantico also host a food and wine pairing seminar from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday (tickets are $125).
