The governor of Iowa praised President Trump for rapidly moving the resources of the federal government to assist the Hawkeye State after a derecho blew through earlier this month.
“Our president, when the winds had finished raging and the cleanup had only begun, he showed up,” Gov. Kim Reynolds said at the Republican National Convention. “Now, you might not know that because the national media didn’t report it. But the Trump administration was here in full force.”
Iowa backed Trump overwhelmingly in 2016 but is now rated a toss-up by RealClearPolitics.
Reynolds promoted Trump’s job performance helping Iowa recover from the derecho and 100-year flooding in 2019 by approving federal aid in record time.
She said Trump’s effort to end China’s unfair trade practices and aid provided to small businesses and farmers hurt by the coronavirus pandemic will help America recover quickly.
“Because of President Trump and his leadership, our country is able to bounce back from setbacks and see opportunity grow and thrive,” Reynolds said. “This is an administration of action and outcomes. They are delivering every day on their promise to make America great again.“
