Virginia shoppers can save money on back-to-school supplies during the state’s sales tax holiday this weekend.
The 3-day tax holiday on certain items will take place from Aug. 2 to Aug. 4.
This year’s eligible goods include qualifying school supplies, clothing, hurricane and emergency preparedness items, and Energy Star or WaterSense products.
Here’s a complete list of items that will be sold without sales tax across the state:
- School supplies for $20 or less per item
- Clothing and shoes for $100 or less per item
- Qualifying Energy Star or WaterSense products purchased for noncommercial home or personal use for $2,500 or less per item
- Portable generators for $1,000 or less per item
- Gas-powered chainsaws for $350 or less per item
- Chainsaw accessories for $60 or less per item
- Miscellaneous hurricane preparedness items for $60 or less per item
The list of eligible items comes with some limitations. Computers are not considered school supplies for the purposes of the tax holiday, and footwear primarily designed for athletic activity is not considered clothing.
