The Montgomery County activist announced plans to run for Maryland’s reshaped Sixth Congressional District. Ficker joins in the race state Sen. Rob Garagiola, D-Montgomery County, and former Montgomery County Councilwoman Duchy Trachtenberg, who announced their plans last week. The district stretches from western Maryland to northern and western Montgomery County. Ficker, a Republican, said Rep. Roscoe Bartlett, the Republican who has held the seat for 10 terms, is his “primary opponent.”
