Donald Trump says his success in the Republican primaries shows he has a mandate from voters to continue his brash campaign style.
“You win the pennant and now you’re in the World Series — you gonna change?” the presumed Republican presidential nominee said in a phone interview with the New York Times. “People like the way I’m doing.”

According to Trump, who has won 29 primaries and caucuses including Nebraska and West Virginia on Tuesday, he has a “mandate from the people” to continue to be who he is.
“I think I have a mandate from the people,” he said. “The people are tired of incompetent leadership at the highest level. They’re tired of trade deals that are ripping our jobs apart and taking their wages.”
So far, more Republicans have turned out to vote for Trump than any other party candidate in history.
“In a Broadway theater, the best, the best, absolute best sale is called ‘word of mouth.’ If people love a Broadway show, it’s better than if you write a good review,” the billionaire businessman said in the interview. “Word of mouth is the number one thing. And the word of mouth at my rallies is like, ‘You’ve got to go see it.’ And, you know, one person goes and they talk about it to 20 people.”
Trump’s nationwide rallies have drawn thousands of people.
Now that he has neared closer to the 1,237 delegates required to win the GOP nomination, Trump has called for party unity.
That hasn’t been a shoe-in just yet. He, House Speaker Paul Ryan and other congressional leaders are scheduled to meet Thursday.
“Somebody said the paparazzi is going crazy over that meeting,” Trump told the Times.
