Marvel Trading Card Game

For all you true believers out there, Konami has a game for you.

Marvel Trading Card Game takes the fun of a collectible card game like Magic: The Gathering and sets it in the Marvel Universe, allowing fans to set their favorite heroes against their favorite villains.

You can play single player mode, which allows you to play a somewhat underwhelming plot as good or evil and collect points you use to buy booster packs of digital cards to build your deck or go online and purchase these boosters to fill your ranks. With more and more cards, you can challenge friends’ decks in wireless multiplayer.

The graphics look a bit clunky, but the focus of this title is the system. Upper Deck’s “Vs.” system was a good candidate for going digital.

If you’d like a complete history in Marvel names and faces, check out this game.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Game

T-U-R-T-L-E powerless.

Since the first TMNT game hit arcades in 1989 after the popularity of the original cartoon, Splinter’s green teen team has been a gaming staple, but the latest installment isn’t quite up to par.

The TMNT games have always been kids’ games, but this title — based on the hit CG family film — takes it a bit too far. The gameplay is simplistic, like a Nick Jr. Prince of Persia, and you can’t lose.

The greatest trespass, however, is the lack of multiplayer. The franchise lends itself to team fighting more than any other — most consoles support exactly four players.

See the movie, leave the game.
