AUBURN, Calif. (AP) — A California couple has reunited a decades-old wedding ring with its owner’s widow with the help of three media organizations.
Shannon and Steve Callahan found the ring three weeks ago in their car, which they bought used this year in Sacramento.

The car’s previous owners had purchased it at a dealership in El Paso, Texas, before moving to California. So Shannon Callahan contacted the El Paso Times to spread the word.
The Associated Press distributed the Texas newspaper’s story nationally, which piqued the Sacramento Bee’s interest. The Bee got help from the Texas dealership to find the owners, Thomas and Darlene King.
Darlene King lives 50 miles from the Callahans — a short distance after the long search that finally brought them together on Wednesday, when they returned the ring.
