Chelsea Clinton defends Ivanka Trump: Samantha Bee’s comments were ‘grossly inappropriate,’ ‘flat-out wrong’

Chelsea Clinton called Samantha Bee’s vulgar comments about Ivanka Trump “grossly inappropriate” and “flat-out wrong.”

“It’s grossly inappropriate and just flat-out wrong to describe or talk about @IvankaTrump or any woman that way,” Clinton tweeted Thursday.

Bee apologized to Trump, an assistant to the president, on Thursday for calling her a “feckless c–t“ during her TBS show, “Full Frontal,” on Wednesday night.

The comedian was responding to a photo Trump posted online of her and her 2-year-old son. The photo was the subject of controversy because it was shared at the same time the president’s critics were calling attention to a Trump administration policy to separate illegal immigrants from their children when they are apprehended at the border.

During the segment, Bee went on to tell Trump to “put on something tight and low-cut and tell your father to fucking stop it.”

Though Clinton condemned Bee’s vulgar comments about Trump, she said she was not expecting consistency from the president’s supporters regarding those who make vulgar comments about women besides Trump, such as her mother, Hillary Clinton.

“I keep hoping for consistency too, Oliver. Though I’m not holding my breath!” Clinton said in response to a tweet highlighting comments from Ted Nugent and a photo of Donald Trump with Nugent in the Oval Office.

Nugent referred to Hillary Clinton as a “toxic c–t” during an interview with Westword magazine in 1994.

He visited Trump at the White House for dinner in April 2017.
