Construction crews will start putting out orange traffic barriers next week around Massachusetts Avenue and Interstate 395.
Work is slated to begin Monday on rehabilitation of the K Street and Massachusetts Avenue bridges, the H Street Bridge over Interstate 395 and the 3rd Street Tunnel.
Crews will replace sidewalks, street lights, curbs, gutters and traffic control devices and resurface bridges.
The work will start on H Street between 2nd and 4th streets NW and Massachusetts Avenue between 2nd Street and 4th Street NW including the Massachusetts Avenue Bridge.
Drivers can expect lane closures between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, and tunnel lane closures between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.
Construction is expected to continue until January 2013.
