Person trapped after Pennsylvania mine collapse

First responders worked Friday afternoon to rescue a person trapped in a Pennsylvania mine that collapsed.

The Department of Environmental Protection said the person is trapped in the underground part of Laurel Aggregates’s Lake Lynn mine, which is located in Fayette County, according to Pittsburgh Action News 4.

Arcosa, the owner of the mine, released a statement saying the company is “focused on responding to an emergency incident at our Lake Lynn, Pennsylvania aggregate facility.”

“The safety of our employees is our number one priority,” the statement reads. “More information will be shared when appropriate.”

Officials from the DEP said they will provide additional information as it becomes available. DEP has not responded to the Washington Examiner’s request for comment.
