Once again, my apologies for being gone so long.

To make up for it, I give you the dumbest quote out of Congress in…at least, weeks…which is saying something. Seriously, though, this is historically dumb and should be immortalized in much the same way as Ted Stevens’ explanation of the Internet (“It’sa series of tubes!”). Now that Stevens is likely to leave the Congress, let’s send this quote to the top of the vapidity pile:

“I have always loved longitude,”Nancy Pelosi says before breaking into laughter. “I love latitude; it’s in the stars. But longitude, it’s about time. … Time and clocks and all the rest of that have always been a fascination for me.”

Um, what?

Ezra Klein has identified what he cheekily calls “Brick Tamland Conservatives.”, which is at least an inventive and pop-culture-literate way to call conservatives dumb. After this, Nancy deserves the title far more than any conservative. Nancy Pelosi, Brick Tamland Liberal: She loves longitude. And, latitude. And, also lamp.
