The Islamic State reportedly is forbidding women from wearing burkas in some parts of its Iraqi stronghold after women dressed in the full-body drapery have attacked commanders of the Sunni-led terrorist group in Mosul.
Instead, the group will force women to wear gloves and cover their eyes with gauze when entering buildings in Mosul, Iraq’s second-largest city.
The Islamic State proselytizes a severe strain of Islam in which its “morality police” have executed women for not wearing the conservative garment that some Muslim nations require them to wear in public.
Women living in other parts of Iraq and Syria under the Islamic State’s control must still wear burkas.
