President Trump criticized protesters Tuesday and questioned why they were allowed to continue interrupting the first day of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation proceedings.
“I’m amazed that people allow the interruptions to continue,” Trump told the Daily Caller. “There [are] some people that just keep screaming.”
In the Oval Office interview, Trump said that “in the old days” the protesters would have been thrown out. “Today, I guess they just keep screaming.”
Trump praised Sen. Orrin Hatch, R–Utah, for castigating protesters.
“Get them thrown out of here, my God,” Hatch said of the protesters in the room.
Capitol Police arrested 22 protesters in the first hour of Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearing.
“To allow somebody to stand up and scream from the top of their lungs — and nobody does anything about it — is, frankly … I think it is an embarrassment,” Trump said.
