Alex Ovechkin is on the ice for Wednesday’s practice at Kettler Iceplex. He is wearing an orange non-contact jersey and skating on a “line” with Mike Knuble (broken finger) and Jay Beagle (injured? or just filling out a line? Will find out soon). Ovechkin seems to be moving around okay. He is suspended, of course, for Thursday and Saturday’s games. But he would be eligible to play next Monday in Tampa – if he’s fully recovered from his knee injury.
The lines: Brooks Laich joins Nick Backstrom and Alex Semin. Brendan Morrison is centering Tomas Fleischmann and Eric Fehr. Chris Clark is on the third line with Alexandre Giroux and Mathieu Perreault. And Tyler Sloan is back with David Steckel and Matt Bradley on the fourth line. All defensemen are accounted for save Shaone Morrisonn – who we learned yesterday would be taken a few days off to shake lingering concussion issues.
