WHO: Economic Development Administration WHAT: In the midst of a debt crisis, the Senate unanimously passed a bill authorizing increased EDA funding from $300 million to $500 million. EDA uses federal dollars to fund pet projects. For example, it gave a $2 million grant to build a “culinary amphitheater,” wine tasting room and gift shop at the Port of Benton and the Walter Clore Wine and Culinary Center in Richland, Wash.

WHY IT’S AN OUTRAGE: We don’t need government-managed gastronomy or a government-managed economy.

WHERE TO VENT: Call the EDA at 202-482-4085.
