Wilbur Ross, the banker-turned-investor and President-elect Donald Trump’s pick to head the Commerce Department, told a Senate hearing Wednesday that he has no position yet on handling trade with Cuba. He told the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee Wednesday that he simply did not know enough about the issue.
Asked by Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., about his position on ending the Cuba trade embargo and generally how he would handle President Obama’s executive order normalizing relations with the country, Ross said it was a “complex” issue and “is one area that I would like to become more educated on.”
“I know there seems to be a lot of interest on the part of American companies in doing business there, but I don’t feel I am expert enough in that to have a firm view,” he said.
