Four people were injured when a generator battery exploded at a warehouse in Northeast Washington, authorities said.
D.C. fire department spokesman Pete Piringer says firefighter were called to a D.C. Department of Public Works building in the 2800 block of New York Avenue about 8 a.m. Tuesday. He said an industrial battery malfunctioned and exploded while renovations were being done to the warehouse.
All 25 workers in the building have been evaluated and four were taken to a hospital with serious injuries, he said.
