Northern Virginia congressmen wrote to Defense Secretary Leon Panetta Thursday, asking him to “consider all options” for solving the expected traffic gridlock around the Mark Center in Alexandria.
The letter, sent by Reps. Jim Moran and Gerry Connolly and Sens. Mark Warner and Jim Webb, all Democrats, also called a recent Army transportation plan “partially false” for saying that defense workers’ move to the Mark Center would not cause significant traffic problems.
About 2,300 workers have already arrived at the Mark Center at the intersection of I-395 and Seminary Road, and another 4,000 are expected by next year as the military shifts its personnel around the Washington region.
