There were so many “easy jokes” I could do regarding Pope Benedict’s visit to Washington, D.C. (Since he’s holding mass at Nationals Park, my first thought was to draw a gag about hiding the bat boys.) I wanted to approach the topic from a different tact. The Pope is considered by billions to be the highest moral authority on Earth, so the fact that he was visiting — to paraphrase “Star Wars” — one of the most wretched hives of scum and villainy strikes a nice contrast.
We’re still getting the bugs out of the new Web site design, and I can’t tell if anyone’s reading the blog. If anyone’s reading it, leave comments to let me know you’re out there and, more importantly, to spark some discussion about the ‘toons and topics!
