NEW YORK (AP) — A judge has sentenced a New Yorker to prison for his role in a crime ring that smuggled women from Mexico and forced them into prostitution.

Carlos Garcia-De La Rosa received the four-year sentence on Thursday in federal court in Manhattan.

Garcia-De La Rosa had pleaded guilty in January to charges he drove the women to appointments around New York.

He was among more than a dozen people charged.

Authorities say customers paid $30 for a 15-minute session. The women got a small portion of that or nothing at all.
