The four candidates for Montgomery County executive are scheduled to appear in a pair of two-man debates tonight in Olney starting at 7:30.

Republican Charles Floyd will face off against independent Robin Ficker, followed by Democrats Steve Silverman and Ike Leggett going head to head.

Silverman has been on the County Council since 1998. Leggett, a law professor, served four four-year terms consecutively through 2002.

Floyd, a retired Army officer who has worked for former Secretary of State Colin Powell, is seeking his first election to county office. He is the only candidate who has filed with the county Board of Elections so far, according to its Web site.

Ficker is a former state representative and has run for numerous offices over the years.

The debates will take place in the community room of the Buffington/Remax Building, at 3300 Olney-Sandy Spring Road in Olney.
