Ever hear friends yell out “Opa!” at the turn of the New Year and wonder what it means?
It?s a traditional Greek word that means “Happy New Year!” To learn more about Greece and how the Greeks celebrate the holiday season, you can visit Port Discovery at noon on Dec. 20 for the Noontime New Year?s celebration honoring the culture.
There will be afun toast with milk and Greek cookies and plenty of activities about Greek history and culture, including clay to make Greek sculptures and statues, and building activities to learn about Greek architecture.
