Bruce Springsteen arrested for driving while intoxicated, police say

Rock ‘n’ roll star Bruce Springsteen was arrested for driving under the influence last year, authorities said.

The Born to Run singer was arrested at a recreation area in Sandy Hook, New Jersey, on Nov. 14 and was cited on accusations of reckless driving and consuming alcohol in a closed area, law enforcement sources told TMZ.

The news comes just days after Springsteen was featured in his first Super Bowl commercial, which advertised Jeep in a two-minute spot that was criticized by some on social media over an inaccurate depiction of a map of the United States.

“Hey @Jeep, Michigan’s Upper Peninsula here, do you notice anything missing in your map, perhaps 33% of Michigan?” one Twitter user posted after noticing the commercial used a map that didn’t include Michigan’s Upper Peninsula region. “For a company long headquartered in Michigan, I expect better. Please give 906 Jeeps to my residents. Sincerely, The Upper Peninsula of America.”

The commercial, which many perceived to be promoting a message of unity, was met with mixed reactions and was largely panned by conservatives.

“When I think of people who represent middle America,” conservative radio host Ben Shapiro said. “I think of the guy from New Jersey, with the earring, who votes Democrat all the time … That guy is not a unifying figure in any shape or form.”

Springsteen has been a harsh critic of former President Donald Trump, saying last year that Trump doesn’t understand “what it means to be American” and calling for him to be “exorcised” from the White House.
