WATCH: Daughter blames QAnon after father shoots family, kills mother

A Michigan man shot and killed his wife and injured one of his daughters amid a mental breakdown that his other daughter blamed on QAnon.

Igor Lanis, 52, opened fire at his home in Walled Lake, Michigan, Sunday. Rebecca Lanis, 21, was not home at the time and found out about the shooting after getting a call from her grandmother.

“It was like I was in a movie or nightmare or something. How could this happen to me?” Rebecca Lanis told WXYZ. “I had a really close bond with my mom, and I just can’t believe that she’s not here.”

When the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office and the Walled Lake Police Department arrived to the Lanis home, Igor opened fire on the officers. The officers returned fire, killing Igor.

Rebecca said her father was not previously violent but had become disturbed after former President Donald Trump lost the 2020 presidential election.

“He became a different person after 2020 when Trump lost,” she said, adding he often became agitated and found ways to bring up conspiracy theories related to vaccines, 5G, and electromagnetic fields. “I think that people need to focus more on radicalization, QAnon. If they have relatives with guns who are like this, you need to get them help, and they need to get checked into a mental institution, even if you think they’re not dangerous.”

Rebecca’s sister, Rachel, is reportedly in stable condition after having surgery.
