A U.S. Navy F/A-18C Hornet crashed Tuesday morning during a routine training mission 10 miles southeast of Naval Air Station Fallon in western Nevada, Navy officials confirm.


The fighter jet was returning to base just before the crash, and the cause of the accident is under investigation. The pilot of the aircraft ejected and was transported to Banner Churchill Regional Medical Center in Fallon, Nev.

Naval Air Station Fallon is an advanced air-to-air and air-to-ground training facility for the Navy’s aviators.
