It makes me sick to my stomach seeing the news out of Pakistan. By suspending the constitution, arresting his political opposition and muzzling the news media, one of the United States’ chief allies in the war on terror, Pervez Musharraf, is showing himself to be simply a power-hungry military dictator. He certainly isn’t the type of person with which you want to be associated when you’re trying to spread freedom and democracy in that part of the world.
Some of you may notice a slight change in my signature. I recently was invited to join Daryl Cagle’s syndicate, Cagle Cartoons, and today’s cartoon is my first for the service. Through Cagle Cartoons, my work will be internationally distributed to 850 publications. Daryl has run the syndicate for a number of years and also is the man behind the high-profile Daryl Cagle’s Professional Cartoonists Index site, on which he’s been kind enough to include me since I started drawing for The Examiner. Now, he’s being even kinder. I’m very excited about syndication because it means more people than ever will be able to read my cartoons. And that’s the point of it all: to reach readers and provoke thought and discussion about the issues of the day.
