President-elect Joe Biden’s margin of victory in the popular vote has now surpassed 7 million.

Biden, who won 306 Electoral College votes and is set to be sworn into office on Jan. 20, has accumulated slightly more than 81.2 million votes, which significantly exceeds any previous presidential candidate, according to CNN’s election tracker. President Trump, who has yet to concede the race, has received slightly less than 74.2 million votes.

If this margin holds, it would more than double Trump’s loss margin with the 2016 popular vote against Hillary Clinton, which was more than 2.8 million votes.

No previous presidential candidate had ever received 70 million or more votes. The previous high was achieved by former President Barack Obama in 2008 when he received 69.5 million votes and in 2012 when he captured 65.9 million votes.

Trump claims the election was stolen due to widespread voter fraud and other issues. His legal team is relying on a patchwork of lawsuits and convincing GOP-led state legislatures to overturn the results of the contest, but so far, the team has seen little success.
