Police: 3-year-old boy wounded in LI shooting

SMITHTOWN, N.Y. (AP) — Suffolk County police say a 3-year-old boy is in stable condition after being shot at a home on Long Island.

Authorities say a 911 call came in just before 7 p.m. Tuesday reporting a shooting and a child struck by a bullet.

The toddler was underwent surgery at Stony Brook University Hospital to remove the bullet. The circumstances of the gunfire were unclear.

An investigation is continuing.
