“Prizefighter,” 2K’s answer to EA’s “Fight Night” series, has gone down in the first round.
It does a few things well. Training between fights is accomplished by a series of minigames that end up being one of the most entertaining aspects of the game.
The facial emotion on the characters is extraordinary, expressing realistic and gruesome pain, but movement is mechanical and the end result is a creepy, sweaty game of Rock ’em Sock ’em Robots.
The campaign mode sports an interesting documentary-style approach, interviewing boxing greats and former girlfriends of your character, “The Kid.”
However, the videos do little to make up for the repetitive and glitchy gameplay.
Hopefully, they’ll hit the gym and try a rematch.
