D.C. high school grads shot at Delaware State identified

The two Delaware State University students who were shot on campus early Friday were identified as 17-year-olds Nathanial Pugh and Shalita Middleton, university officials said.

Both students graduated from D.C. high schools. Pugh went to Dunbar High School, and Middleton attended Woodrow Wilson High School.

No arrests were made as of Sunday. Police believe the gunman is a male Delaware State student who is no longer on campus.

The campus was shut down Friday. Classes will resume today. – Scott McCabe

Adelphi home explodes

An explosion destroyed an Adelphi home Saturday night, but both occupants escaped unharmed, according to Prince George’s County Fire and EMS officials.

The 10:15 p.m. blast was so powerful that it blew out the entire side of the one-story brick house on the 1500 block of Quinwood Street.

Fire officials and Washington Gas Company officials were investigating the cause of the explosion. Neighbors reported that 30 minutes before the explosion, Washington Gas was in the area responding to a report of an odor of natural gas outside. – Scott McCabe

Pr. George’s police seek info on fatal shooting

Prince George’s County police are investigating a shooting that left one man dead at 34th Street and Rhode Island Avenue on Saturday.

At about 7:15 a.m., police officers responded to a report of the sound of gunfire and found Camillus Boykin Jr., 33, suffering from multiple bullet wounds. Boykin, of the 4200 block of 29th Street, was transported to a nearby hospital, where he died a short time later.

Investigators are working to establish a motive.
