“It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to share my husband Stephen has left us. Stephen lit up every room he stepped into. He valued family, friends and community above all else and leading with love and light was everything to him. He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans,” Boss’s wife, Allison Boss, 34, said in a statement.

Boss first became known after finishing second in season four of So You Think You Can Dance in 2008. He returned for season 17 earlier this year as a judge. Boss was known for his role as DJ on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, which he began in 2014, later becoming an executive producer of the show in 2020 until it ended in May.

DeGeneres shared a tribute to Boss in a tweet, saying he was “pure love and light” and that “he was my family, and I loved him with all my heart.”
