Former White House adviser Sebastian Gorka said there is a “direct line” between CNN reporter Jim Acosta’s behavior at a recent White House press conference and a left-wing mob descending on Fox News host Tucker Carlson’s house.
“There is a direct line between Jim Acosta’s behavior at that press conference and what happened at our friend Tucker’s house,” Gorka said to Fox News’ Sean Hannity on Thursday. “These people are repeatedly crossing the line of what is acceptable, whether you’re a reporter in the White House or whether you are a demonstrator in D.C.”
Gorka said this sort of behavior would have been “deemed absolutely unacceptable just two years ago,” before President Trump took office.
The comment came after Hannity condemned MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow for promoting on a Twitter planned protests to “protect the Mueller investigation.” Hannity himself has faced backlash, including from his own network, for going on stage with President Trump at a campaign rally before the midterm elections on Tuesday.
Protesters from the self-identified anti-fascist group Smash Racism D.C. on Wednesday gathered outside of Carlson’s house in Washington, with at least one member of their group walking up onto the front porch and ringing the doorbell and chants of “Tucker Carlson, we will fight! We know where you sleep at night!”
That came after Acosta refused to yield the microphone when a female intern tried to take it from him during a press conference with Trump on Wednesday. As a result of that tussle for the microphone, the White House announced later that evening it was suspending Acosta’s hard pass.
